Research tells us that a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing works best.
Take a look at our latest post focusing on Staff Wellbeing in school.
A mentally healthy school community is one that values, promotes, and enacts positive actions to support the wellbeing of all its members. This starts with a school’s culture and ethos. An inclusive and supportive culture that values all members of the community promotes wellbeing.
Staff wellbeing underpins the wellbeing of the whole school community. If staff are to support and encourage student wellbeing they must also take care of their own wellbeing and mental health.
Staff working in schools are part of a profoundly social experience. The ability to interact and develop relationships is central to the teaching/learning experience. One of the most important factors for school connectedness is the ability to develop and nurture positive staff/ student relationships. Therefore by placing importance on staff wellbeing school leaders will also improve the school experience for students.
